This policy explains what American Equity Recovery Group ("we", "us") collects when you use this website or ask us to check a property, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it. Plain English, because most of the people who reach this page have already had a hard year.
The short version. We collect what you send us so we can look up your property and get back to you. We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to marketing lists. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
When you submit the property-review form, call us, or email us, you may give us:
- your name, phone number and email address;
- the address of the property and roughly when it sold;
- anything else you choose to write in the message field.
If a surplus turns out to exist and you ask us to proceed, we will later request further documents — identification, and paperwork showing your connection to the property or to the former owner. We ask for those only at that point, never on the first contact.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our host records basic technical information when a page is served: IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. This is used to keep the site running and secure.
We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics profiling on this site. The only external resource the page loads is a web font from Google Fonts, which means Google receives the request for that font file.
2. Why we use it
- To search public records for surplus funds connected to the property you told us about.
- To contact you with what we find, either way — including when there is nothing there.
- To prepare and file a claim, if you ask us to.
- To keep records we are required to keep, and to handle disputes.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not send marketing unrelated to your enquiry.
3. Contact permission
When you tick the consent box on the form, you are agreeing that we may contact you about that property by phone, text message or email. That permission covers your enquiry only.
You can withdraw it at any time — reply STOP to a text, or email us and say so. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply. We do not use automated dialling systems for marketing, and we do not share your number with anyone for their own marketing.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it.
We share it only where it is needed to do the work:
- Courts and county offices — a claim has to be filed with the office holding the funds, and that filing includes your details.
- Attorneys — where a claim requires legal representation, and only with your agreement.
- Service providers that operate our website, email and phone service, strictly to provide those services to us.
- Where the law requires it — a court order, a subpoena, or a legal obligation.
5. How long we keep it
If we look up a property and there is no surplus, or you decide not to go ahead, we keep the enquiry only as long as we reasonably need it and then delete it. Where a claim is filed, records are kept for as long as required for that claim and for any period the law obliges us to retain them.
6. How it is protected
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to enquiries is limited to the people who need it to do the work. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — but your documents are not sold, listed, or passed around.
7. Your choices
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete what we hold, where we are not required to keep it;
- stop contacting you.

8. Children
This site is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
